Hi Everyone
I hope you are all well. The forthcoming week will be a hectic one for me as I will be studying for my accreditation "Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector." So what does that mean I hear you ask? The PTLLS accreditation will give me my licence to teach, train, supervise or mentor adults over 16 years of age in beauty therapy.
The course is delivered on line and I will have to create a portfolio of asssignments. In the assignments I will need to show I can prepare lesson plans, make use of teaching props, research and help find the best teaching tools for my training sessions. Plus I will also have to show that I have an understanding of health & safety issues.
Seven days later I will be assessed. On the assessment day I will deliver my fifteen minutes of micro teaching, and also present my portfolio in order to gain my accrediation certificate.
This will enable me to teach short courses to adults in interest based courses on all aspects of beauty and offer mentoring programs for beauty college students.
Should I choose to open a part time training school to teach beauty therapy from scatch - so people can become qualified professional therapists I will need to design my course materials and practical classes. Finally, I will need to get my courses accrediated through various professional bodies in the beauty industry. So in a year's time or so it may be possible to train as a beauty therapist to the Shine service standard.
I must admit I am felling quite nervous about the micro teaching session in a couple of weeks - but I am sure that when I prepare it will be OK on the day.
Hope you wish me luck
Caroline
