Caroline from Shine at Peak Fitness, Woking was pleased to take part in the Marist, West Byfleet, Handbags and Gladrags frock swapping event on Friday 14 November.
The Parent Teachers Association (PTA) charity event was inspired by Jackie Thomas, one of the mums and PTA. Jackie suggested the idea would be a good fund raising event to help the PTA raise money for a green house and some reading books urgently needed by the school. She came up with the idea while searching for an outfit for a wedding in the summer holidays and wondered if anyone else had struggled to find things to wear for ‘one-off’ events and thought it would be a good idea to have a swap shop event like the PTA already do for school uniform. The evening allowed parents and teachers to sell evening wear with 20% of the selling price going to the PTA cause.
The clothes swap was fully supported by members of the PTA which every parent is a member of automatically when their child starts at the school. Jackie said “We are very fortunate at the Marist to have a very supportive group of parents and teachers who fundraise tirelessly for extra items for the children.”
Additionally there were contributions by various stall holders, and therapists did mini manicures and make-over’s during the evening. The atmosphere on the night was the perfect balance of relaxation, fun and friendliness.
Caroline from Shine did mini manicures over the course of the evening. She allowed her clients to select two options from: cut and file, cuticle work, hand massage, or varnish so they could get the part of the manicure treatment they preferred.
If you missed the Handbags and Gladrags event but wish to contribute to the schools PGA fund raising please contact the school on 01932 344477 who will give you details of the next PTA meeting or fund raising event.
